Am very proud to announce that after a month of studying, clicking, editing, (silently screaming), testing, amending, asking, thinking, experimenting ... our very own dot com site is finally ready!

Like a dream come true, and rather unbelievably. Knowing myself. My certain characteristic traits and lack thereof.

Like getting my hand stuck in a mouse-box. that is something you dont need your web-architect (fancy names!) to do.

OK if you are a friend and have clicked the above link, you would have see my new artwork for the next launch - PALETTE!

I love this. Actually i love my artwork in a weirdly self-deprecating manner - each time I complete one, I ooh&aah about how fantastic it is, then I look at my previous work and go WTF was I thinking and doing.
Or maybe, I should think of it as an improvement.

Today Dad-in-law saw my site and he was really supportive. said it is a nice site and it is good for us to try this out for a learning experience, regardless of whether we are earning much from it now.
A 2nd surprise reaction from him on my part.
the first being us telling him about my job switch - knowing how practical and financially-wise he is I had braced myself for his opining that I should not have been a job brat and leave the job after building up a decent portfolio and salary. I knew it would bother me cos I really respect his opinions and advice. But he said it was a good move on my part and its always good to learn new things. When I told him the pay would not be as good but would not be any bad, he told me that it is not important, especially when i cannot picture myself doing the same thing for long and not learning anything more.

I am so so so grateful for such a lovely family.

Well, i guess there are always things worth smiling for, and that's God's promise.
But we just have to see it.

I think i have to be very very very thankful for the family I married into.

Knowing myself well, and some minor not-v-nice incidents with the ex's parents, i have always doubted my ability to be a daughter-in-law worth falling heads over heels for. For one, i am quite anti-social, and with my built-up independence away from being a mammy's baby, it could become a challenge for me to build close parent-child relationships to a second family after marraige. Or maybe I am just not the type to hold a mother-in-law's hand because my mother didnt held mine.

Credit have to be given to Dan's parents because they tried to see what is beyond the surface. of perhaps a girl who sometimes miss church service cos she is too tired, though her husband's parents are pretty well-known church members. of a girl who did not help out with the chores very much back when she stayed over. Of a girl who probably does not have sweet words at the tip of her tongue to say most of the time. Of a girl who cannot really cook. And a girl who was so protective of her dogs that she was prepared to fend off any pressure to give them up, ever. and a girl who is so not prepared to give them grandchildren, yet. oh my, on my part I am kinda the equation to in-laws clashing catastrophe.

But back in those days, my mum-in-law was the one who cooked porridge when I was sick. She was the one who initiated to hold my hand once when we were hanging out at a cousin's wedding. She was the one who always asked me if she can feed treats to my dogs n if its good for them.

My dad-in law was the one who was always there to listen to my stories and work problems, and always putting things in the correct perspective, to counter my rash and impulsive assumptions. And he was never stingy with sharing the things he know and the things he have, telling us to take anything from their home, ranging from toiletries to the racks he knew would help in our business. And he was the one fending off nosey relatives' unneccesary "must have kids" talk for us, then teaching us how to handle it.

And just cos last week, when we were awing over his new streaming tv device, I was commenting on how I wanted a certain old HK show which cannot be found in shops. looking back i could have said "wa that show really nice" so much I didnt realise it. And he went to find it and bought it and passed it to me today.

And back at home Dan very happily told me "see my parents really dote on u"

Indeed.
I cant say i have done much to deserve this, so of course i should do more. I know how lucky I am.

Anger. funny how anger seems to shadow every other feeling once it exits. So destructive.

I questioned myself on my understanding of friendship. I have very few, but wonderful friends. friends to die for because they were there for me when I was down in the dumps in past relationships. I remember this friend who rounded up the rest and rented a car, back when I had my episodes weeping in the park after terrible conflicts with the ex. Together they brought me to malaysia, cheered me up bringing me around to shop, talked all the nonsense in the world to make me laugh. And just becaused I said I didnt feel like going back to feel like I want to call the then-bf, they searched for a family hotel and we stayed the night, playing games and laughing ourselves silly.
2 years back remember this friend, driving Dan and I round Singapore and Malaysia to run a bazillion wedding errands, making himself the butt of jokes. And I remembered friends like this was one of the reasons we were still able to smile most of the time despite preparing for a customary wedding that both of us didn't want.
And this particular friend is a friend who ran off during my big day to get another bridal bouquet when my original one was dying. Which I actually didnt care about, but I still lost it at him on my bridezilla day for running off and not being around to help out before the banquet.

A great friend indeed, you'd say and yes i know.

I accepted the fact that each of us are different in nature, that we are different characters with different routes in life. While he was less down to earth, I choose to think at times that maybe with his certified higher intelligence than most, I wouldnt expect him to lead life the way I did with my undetermined level of IQ.

When I couldnt picture how a university student who does not have a rich family backing can afford to think that he need a car and think that he can afford to need one and it "really didnt cost much more than a bike", I voiced out in my usual bossy irritating manner, and only to give up giving advice in the end because of that benefit of doubt that perhaps he really could make it work. and that I should not impose my views.

In the process, I almost ended up being a co-owner of a car i could only afford half - oh yes the other half depended on trust in the other party to be able to pass me his share monthly. And long story short, i only have God and another friend and a very very ethical salesman to retract that signed contract and saved myself from years of financial trouble, because lets face it, we know where it would end.

throughout the years, I allowed many of my advice to fall on deaf ears. largely because I know we can never force advice on anyone, and a small part because I remember the good things this friend did and there was still a smaller part of me, as a friend, also hoping that he can make it.

I lent him money, i asked my husband to lend him money, and never asked for it back because he has been generous with us using his car.

I watch him not valuing a stable teaching job, and heard him speak of his forex dreams. I knew this friend always thought he was meant for something bigger. And when his dreams got too dreamy, I brought Shifu in for someone of high intelligence and high financial status, to deliver the words he needed to hear. that forex is for people with deep pockets

The rest and I saw clearly that a person should not venture into real estate with negative capital. The rest travelled to my ulu house specifically to talk him out of it. With our most fundamental knowledge that a person who has debts should take a stable job with any salary to manage the situation. not going into a job that only boasts potentially high income, possibly probably. but he was still so optimistic. and as usual, we gave up.

In my days of frustration watching him, i moved from lecturing vehemently, cursing in exasperation, to begging Dan to stop me from caring so much or slap me if I ever took it upon myself to scold a hey-esther-he-is-an-adult-and-he-is-older-than-u-so-he-has-his-own-life.

then another friend trusted him with an installment plan funded by his credit card. and he went into hiding while a buddy risks incuring a credit bureu bad record pending a wedding and house preparation. but concurrently, while I was out of the picture of this incident, I was shown a blog of a promising forex investor who was selling the idea of any one of us uninterested-in-forex-but-wanna-earn-money creating accounts, leave the funds and let him trade away. And I read the wise words and quote them as follows:

"Other factors that will lead to you trading profitably include good money management and self-discipline. Good money management will allow you to trade more objectively; you will be psychologically affected if the money you lost was meant for your car installment.

Of course, if you do not have self-discipline, you're bound to fail as well... Thus, I will dare say forex trading is easy, but it may not suit everyone."

those were his words. Concurrently with the mess he got a friend into. and when I confronted him when I learnt of the incident eventually, I was told that the matter was supposed to between the 2 of them.

i.e
its none of my business?
that i should oh, put what you did aside, and see your bright future as a forex trader, n perhaps even start and account with u or introduce others to, as support for a friend?
that i should, out of concern as a friend, trust that you have your life in order and you are ok?

Reading from the top, i wrote "friend" so many times. I dont wish to count.
And along with penning down the above, I have done all I can as a friend. and I should stop feeling guilty for giving up.

its a dream finally taking baby steps to come true for me. So excited that I could not sleep. An of course you can say that I used a shopping platform, but I know how hard it is to learn all the attributes to set this up. did tonnes of studying on the reading material, making notes of the classifications i need to draft and adhere to so that the navigation can work.
And doing this with my very own hands certainly beats paying $4.8K for someone to do it for me.

I dropped the sweet flora feel and opted for a minimalist chic look

Should Sleep now, its 4 am. funny how I am not tired at all though I have been at my computer for hours.

Livejournal really eff-ed me UP last night during my launch time. Eff. with such a large collection I had prepared the post in advance, uploaded and arranged the pictures nicely, descriptions, updated the categories accordingly..

And at bloody 8pm, all our painstakingly uploaded photos went missing, together with all the active tabs.
My frustration was multiplied cos I had emailed LJ some time ago to feedback on the instability of their systems and how they are affecting BSs in Singapore. Ironically, we are paying them a monthly sum for our journals, but its basic functions failed while we could blog with ease on free platforms like blogger.
And they promised me that their engineers are placing the issue on top priority.

While i hold little faith in corporate promises, I didnt expect it to fail that badly this time round. And I could only helplessly submit support requests, conveying my disappointment. and frantically uploading the collection on facebook and sending notifications to mailing listees, replying email enquiries from those who did check our site and could see nothing.

That was when I had enough- I dont think my work principles allow me to be tHAT helpless about my own business & operations.

So I discussed with Dan and we are going to move to an e-shopping platform. Yes, with a shopping cart and everything on a stable supported platform.
Shall be using the month of July to do it, since I am planning to take a few weeks hiatus while waiting for our first manufactured pieces to be ready, hopefully by end July.

Its gonna be a lot of learning struggles for me cos i have close to nil computing and web set-up knowledge. Downloaded articles to study how about doing it, and I had to read it at least twice before i can even briefly comprehend the contents. Never felt stupider since studying molecular structure and sound waves.

So hopefully, 2 exciting things will take place on my shop in a months time.. Pls pray for me!

1st half - Jokes about how rich Clement is. This went on for more than an hour i think. how many flats in Singapore need upgrading to get lifts but he already has lifts in his mansion, but still wanna upgrade dunno what. Automated ktv system in his house. Possibility of us being employed as valets if he starts selling season parking tickets to staff at mediacorp. next session is resort life at his palace so ya, wait for the pics, WAIT. thats how rich he is.

2nd half - Politics. Fengshan CC. MRT woes vs the economy debate. Ang Mo kio Pig. Shrek. Some gal whose bf bought a mini for her. Yes, from the intellectual talk to gossip.

and the session ended with some more pokes at Clement on his wealth.

I love this bunch of people! can't wait for the next session!

Set aside Friday to bring Chiyo for her sterilisation- smooth and the operation scar wasnt very visible. Twas done by a great-reviewed vet I knew since Sugar days, at our clinic (Namly Animal Clinic). Poor girl was so groggy after that and was walking zig zag when we brought her home. Had to hug her to sleep cos she was figeting with the pain/discomfort.

While waiting we also dumped tiny one at the groomer's, so Dan n I got to roam TPY central on a lazy friday noon.. not much people out there and with free hands and in slack wear we went searching for a dimsum restaurant, only to discover that it was just one of the things that has disappeared together with ol' times and perhaps our innocence.

And with just a simple outing like this, we were reminded how simplicity in life can be very important, can be your happiness. And I shared with him a life lesson that I recently learnt, that we both should learn together..Perhaps I will write about it soon. A little tired now from being full time doggie-chef and butler.

Being unemployed/self-employer/on sabbathical/homemaker/taitai (quite an obvious identity crisis), on the days that I can't find anyone to bum around with during office hours, or am too lazy to go on the much-fantasized photo/soul walks, I have more days of having to dress up a wee bit for dinner sessions with Dan. Well he is damn tired after his long day of work now that he has transferred and has taken a much bigger portfolio, so i have no demands of long outings. No problem, rather happy with the little dinner explorations (found a homey little chinese food restaurant off taman mas merah with bittergourd soup -like) plus looking for ice-cream cafes after that.

The problem with such trips is that you need to dress up to a tricky level. Makeup is too much, yet you dont want to let yourself go completely with specs and undone hair. Outfit-wise, I really need some dressy tops that goes with shorts that does not scream early 2000 giordano.. Would still wanna look pretty, but casual. Which is why i love this..

Been busy with post-shoot work. Amendments made to the home studio have paid off and minimised the need for my lauya photo-editing skills. But we still need more trial and error moves with the lighting. comes with time; patience.

Sneaky Little Preview of the upcoming collection.

This is a tiny new artistic experiment I was on, after a little bit of inspiration this afternoon..

Its a HUGEEEEE collection, so i'd be back to introduce the pieces soon, promise. I took many pieces myself so Im kinda excited about this. It was also shot after we improved the home studio with the canvas backdrop and dropped the muslin backdrop.

I love SP!! and pssss... might be on to the manufacturing sooner than I thought. Collaboration with other blogshops. Waiting waiting..

Am tired now after 2 days of throat inflammation n headaches. Better stop doing the late nights.

Laoshu helped us with the shoot this time round, aint she sweet and so girl-next-door. received some great reviews on her shoot too. we went for plain studio shots this time round - something that I had, in the beginning of starting SP, been pretty sure I didnt want to have. But many things have changed since. Practicality, for a start, deterred me from organising a 2nd outdoor shoot, and no it wasnt cos I felt hot, cos this ah-sam of a boss feels more like a helper clad in t-shirts and shorts without makeup, it didnt really matter if I sweated. but i really felt for the model having to look pretty in the dressy clothes and still look cool in the shots, and the sweaty photographer, and anyone else around who really came to help but was put through all the heat and standing..
maybe once in a while for a real special series. or just one shot once in a while..
Also making changes to the home studio. Realised that a muslin backdrop = too much to edit. Dearest Bunny got me a lobang for a sweet piece of canvas, and a real budget-saver too.

well im a little late with this update, not a prompt blogger i know, will fail as a fashion blogger - already working on my next launch and I have not decided on a launch date.
But its been great so far, sales were good for this launch perhaps cos of the adverts, and our mailing list family is growing.
and Im still enjoying every minute of it.

Meanwhile we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary!

aha i know. Wedding, to most, is the customary date. and i'd say u have great time-estimation skills slash memory if you tell me i'm a moron and its been only a year since we were married

well to cut a long wedding-prep-nightmare story short, Dan and I could have been the eloping sort and have a 2 -6 persons intimate wedding at some cliff ulu chapel.. = *dreamy*
But well, the next best thing was our solemnisation at the beautiful beach resort with close frens and family
Not the money-n-angpow-centred, lotsa-traditions-that-even-defy-logic-n-good-sense, customary wedding day
Just a simple sweet ceremony, surrounded by flowers, trees, water, and our loved ones

& its been 2 years...
time, just, aha see, it flies

Dan beri sweet. i mean it.
at times when i blab i tell him stories from my sad middle-child childhood. and i rem only once in a random conversation telling him i once wished so much that i have my own tamagotchi.
My brother had like 2? plus my mother was sooo strict that she kept them in a drawer and didnt allow us to play with it unless we do like tonnes of assessment books. so i remember the chicks were pretty shortlived.

So while I was off attending Huiqi's wedding he snuck somewhere and managed to land me my very own..

I have tamagotchi now leh..
it might be like 15years late but it means so much to me

You know, I wont say we have a perfect relationship and marraige,
there are still moments that we have to manage well and do better.
When frens commented that we do not quarrel, i can just say we dont magically do that, but we do our best to make each other happy and we respect each other's feelings. which is the main reason why we dont speak rudely to each other , therefore, no fights.
But we face real problems like all couples, disappointments, unhappiness. So we are not some super blessed beings, but it is just about how to communicate those feelings.

Its about realising what is important to you.

And I love you today because I cannot imagine if you are no longer with me tomorrow..

I have a few things I need to do now.. and Im torn.
Okay i've either gotta start doing up the inventory I have been sitting on (darn not inventorising yet going out to get more stock!). Now I have a stock-backlog. Damn, backlogs have been haunting me all my life
Kinda cant wait for Laoshu to come over for the photoshoot real quick. kinda excited to have a new face for SP! Just that I have so much apparel, really gotta be selective cos I should not tire her out.

taking a short break first. Last few days have been great.

thurs was Salon Day with fellow bimbo Bunny
i dont know why she refused to be featured full-faced. must, like, cover one facial feature

But her haircut was a nice one.. Lisa rocks, as always
I just did a protein treatment to pamper myself as she did her colour n cut. but i love how my hair was after the treatment..

Fri was pamper the furkids day, with Bunny's boys and my gals all taking a car trip.

I melt whenever I see them snuggling :)

. basically sleeping til 12. scolded chiyo a little bit. smacked emi for tearing up paper. replied emails. checked through stock to make sure that we exchange defected items quickly. whatapping all day cos M1 was down and Im so gonna make them give me free 1mth service cos im not officially employed. bathed and bathed. decided to dress up a bit for dinner with Dan cos he said we were going to Lor Kilat for his site inspection after dinner. No Makeup for the many-th consecutive day. Ended up having D13 ice-cream @Udders with him. Loving these little moments :)

So my 5 years plus in the Woo-Rah Land has officially ended.
My sweet gals were so wonderful, to organise a little send off session for me

Okay I am all smiles there, cos I was determined not to emo n cry on my last day. (unlike my 10 month stint in accuplace in 2006 and i bawled like a baby with only 7 other colleagues in the co)

but the moment I reached home and read the little scrapbook they made for me, i started weeping like nobody's biz..

A weekend of a new blogshop owner
(okay, one who has not enough money to employ people ... yet)
:

- Rushing photo-editing and collages, designing backgrounds and layouts, for a launch on Sunday just so that it can coincide with the advert she paid hundreds for. All these while keeping an eye on the most-exciting-ever GE results

- Chasing people who leave orders but MIA after payment with emails and check back again. Or still gotta handle LAME reasons given for backing out of orders after asking me to reserved by saying "oh i realised its too short for me" when the measurements are on the site in the first place and it is a CROPPED cardigan in the first place. Like.. how long is your body???

- Sending blacklisted emails to deadbuyers that has to sound firm but not offensive. (ok if you ever tried placing an order then decide to mia after people reserved the items for you, DONT DO IT!. its freaking selfish and very inconvenient! plus there are others who are interested in the items but cannot get it just cos some deadbuyer is hogging the item)

- then contacting folks on the waitlist after a deadbuyer backs out

- Viewing blogs, requesting for quotes on advertorials. Paying them, discussing on details, then preparing pdf catalougue of items for them to choose the advert item

- Chasing the blogger whom u paid s for an advert and rushed to coincide a launch with her advert, cos up til 10pm at night you still dont see the advert!! (freaks out)

- Handling invoices, payments. checking bank account

- packing parcels

- advertising on forums

- doing accounts, oh, the bloody accounts *ergh!*

- discussing with my brother the freelance designer, whom i engaged to create a banner for the shop

Ya, that was a saturday and sunday for me.. tata weekend! Not to mention I have yet to stocktake my last batch of stock and have not found a good manufacturer to make my designs.... *murmurs*

So i know many friends who are also interested in doing this; well, i would say go for it, but so long you can accept the demands and commitment level. Yes that means forgoing many of your social events and having a 3D ass print on your home chair.

But at least, being busy for yourself makes everything so worth it.. :)

I refer to my email last week. I did not receive your approval or comments since.

The week has passed, my team members are still submitting waivers, leave and roster changing requests etc for my endorsement and approval.
Beyond the administration aspects, they also have no idea who their next team leader will be.

Over the last few years our team has built up a close bond. It is quite sad that when they asked me about their next team leader, and I had to tell them that I did not get a response from my bosses. I wont be surprised if they feel that they are “at a loss” now, or that their concerns appear unimportant.

Even though our teams are small, I feel that it would be better in everyone’s interest if you can allow someone to take over the handling of these matters. I don’t think it is simply a matter of taking over technical duties. I believe that given my involvement with the members so far, the new team leader would appreciate first-hand information from me, on the member’s strengths and weaknesses, what they have done so far, and what are the areas to look out for each individual.

I hope you can also understand that given my 2 working days left next week, having to spend time to raise this issue and briefing the next leader definitely does not give me any form of benefit or advantage. I only hope for the team’s sake that they wont be neglected, and you can be fair enough towards the next leader and members to not to let them experience an abrupt change in team leadership.

However, if you feel that I do not need to be involved in this, then I shall abide by your decisions, and proceed to finish my work duties accordingly.

I am looking up beautiful gardens now. they are for the great big next-next launch

I love flowers, yes, thats despite my fiery nature.
So i was thinking of theme-ing the next-next launch after beautiful gardens in the world

Last year's trip to Paris, we ventured out to Versailles with the ever-adventourous EH, and man, I was amazed at the garden they built, acres and acres of greenery

It was as if Marie-Antoinette had to run away or play hide and seek all the time...

I remembered it was scorching hot the day we were there- and i mean the serious type of hot where you may really get a heatstroke there and then. i think the temp hit 40 deg at some point during the week we were there.

So i only took a shot of the garden from the palace

we were hiding in the tram all the time during the garden tour.. urgh. it was that bad

remembered the greenery outside The Lourve was something simple too, amazed at how people just laid there to get a little sun

Gardens can be majestic pieces of art in God's glory.

I am such a procastinator
Link buttons have not been up here to go to SP since weeks ago. argh..

and i was supposed to go and bathe like an hour ago, but once i sit, I cant stop clicking from here to there

then slowly, it became clicking through the raw photoshoot pics and deciding to work on the next next launch already..

okay id better go bathe first before I talk more, here is the SP blog entry on our next launch on Monday 8pm!

Just another week or so to go..
Having mixed feelings, but clear that this is the right decision

Anyhow
Will work on the proper link buttons from my blog to SP in a bit
Launching the next coporate wear series next monday
there are 3 designs but with colours, amounting to a total of 6 different pieces
and best of all, there are sizes for my fav pieces this time round. A sneak Peak..

I kept a piece of this for myself, with the pretty victorian lace, why not..
and we got a total of 3 sizes : S, M, L for the same design in black
so that we all can choose a nice and slimming fit/cut

Photo Editing got a little easier as I worked around the edges with Photoshop, and found shortcut methods

I chose to see that things are getting better. Come on, we all gotta trust God, have Faith, and be positive.
And most importantly
rub off that spirit on someone else

Bunny & I have really been working hard to plan the next 4-5 launches even. We are still at the teething stage where we discover and reconcile our different definitions, expectations, threshold and methods which SP is going to run.
But it only means that we both care about SP and really wants to see it work

This is a real beauty of a collection. All the pieces were selected overseas at this precious place we found. I guess both of us were in a lacey mood that day and we picked out so many romantic and feminine pieces, that we formed a Lace themed launched

Bunny titled this "Lace Veiled Dreams of You". Her inspiration came from a rather sad story about loss. no spoilers.. rem to watch the launch if you wish to know which book it was from.

Monday...

This would be a pivotal week for me. Im putting a stop to the nonsense and the treatment I think i dont deserve

Yes I would be handing in my letter tomorrow. it felt right

Last year, i had the same intention, only to have changed my mind and held on another 6 months after being stabbed hard in the back

poisonous anonymous letters of me to the entire management
punctured tyres with screws in tyre grooves. twice.
i was indignant, so i stayed on to prove that I am not a quitter.

Because i believed that all the things i have done so far, is for good.
such decisions can sometimes be unpopular decisions

plus there was the bonus i think i deserve

but now,
its no longer about winning and losing
its about my life

SashPetals is Born!

Ok, if you have not seen me recently (or seen the swollen eyes i have, working late every night)
you might be wondering what is this "SP" ive been talking about

Over the past few months, Bunny & I have been pretty psyched and busy with our new online shop

It has been nothing but exciting .. but so so so much work learning photoshop and editing the blogsite

but i love it!

So far, we have launched some wedding corsages designs, but come Sunday 8pm, it will be time for our very first apparel launch

We are starting with light steps, with some pretty, vintage, and light pieces. Kicked off with a 4 hour outdoor shoot that day, whe Bunny, RR, Dan and I were sweating crazy but trying so hard to keep our model cool..
But I love the shots, really. They were taken mainly by Dan but I did supplement some shots with my trusty lumix

im cooped up at home again, organising photos from Thurs shoot, selecting them really selectively
i dont think i'd have time to edit them tonite, will do so at hume tomorrow..
dont get me wrong, i luv my dad and mum - in-laws but 2 hours of taiwanese boliao drama? id rather sit with them and use the time to do SP stuff

anyway thur's shoot went well. Thank God for giving us great weather and a good sport in Kelly as a model

this gal is so chio, i find it hard to believe we are from the same family.. haha

anyway thanks to the team for the hard work, sweat, and koo-li-kang!

On leave tomorrow for our first photoshoot with Kells
which explains why i dared to stay up til this late just to figure out how to make these buttons work on our site

It didnt just involve hours of linking pages together
it included hours of photo-editing which I am still so Noob at

ok im still not going around to "promote the site" cos we are not ready to take in MTM corsage orders, when the photoshoot for our apparel is tomorrow
which means more photoshopping, page linking, and tonnes of admin

but here is a preview...

corsages went up first since the samples were ready, but what we hope will be more active is the apparels, which we painstakingly travelled to pick if anyone's sick of the stuff seen on most sg blogshops..

Went for Bride Pigu's gown fitting today...
Have to say pigu's dieting efforts have obviously paid off.. She is soo slim that most of the gowns she tried has to be altered

Dan n I have always hated crowds, so since we got our jelebu homie, I've decided to cook him a special valentines' dinner, instead of going out there, fight for parking, cramp with other couples' tables , subject to fixed menus, n have ur food delayed

Dan got to do the menu selection, So I decided to get a lil creative n emulated the SATC moment when Big n Carrie dined at home. (cos Laos asked me "ey why u dining at home still wear so nice, & I went "cannot wear nice at home meh!" , defensive n everything

Glam-ed up the moment in 5 mins using google search m Microsoft word

This was the main course after the shrooms n brats

First time I tried in the past, I thought all pasta sauce worked right out of the jars == sour!

The last time I tried was ok after adding brown sugar.

Feels like a great Tuesday. Felt like an effective leader going thru a presentation with my member, spoke with lil missy new staff who wants to quit, attended a meeting and made useful suggestion n comments
All while a green-eyed poison ivy struggles with her jealous bitterness, inferior silence during my presence. Witnessed her self-destruction and realized that I was right. I need not take revengeful strikes to bring her down; her painfully obvious incompetence will do it herself.

All I needed to do was stay on the right track. If u know me well, esp if we go way back, u will appreciate how I had to resist the urge to retailiate.

I did not, despite such horrid things done to me. If she argues that I make her look bad, I'd ask her to think again. Is it my fault that my mind is clearer than yours, I have good sense, n I always have the interest of all as a motivation?
All while she was busy obsessing about how to outshine others in her very very limited capacity. So she resorted to sending poison letters, puncture tyres, n other dirty tricks to bring others down.

It's her only way to "outshine"?

Sadly I think even new gullible boss was irritated at her inability to write 2 simple reports.

I guess time will always tell the truth. Facades cannot withstand time.

Ok so meeting n after that taa daa! Half day leave to have bday lunch with our chiobu Laoshu !

@ home with Dan and our pals for an after-reunion gathering, sneaking a post while the guys go n smoke

Volunteered for Chao Yang sch's activity this CNY eve. Chao Yang provides education to kids with special needs, n has been our adopted charity over the last few years. The kids there, sweet.

Enjoyed a school performance first thing this morn.. Mmm I miss this!

Then the kids n us headed to Lao yu sheng next...
Though the catered yu sheng looks seriously crappy, the kids really seem to enjoy themselves a lot

I look like I'm enjoying too rite?

Oh n there was this ultra sweet little gal Jieying I met
She has these large eyes n sat demurely throughout,made no noise, n ate her stuff very very slowly
aww.. & she will nod at everything you say

We kept taking pics cos she is soo sweet
(& I luv my Royal Purple dress with embroidery, which i just collected from Design Closet)

In fact she melted Dan the-kids-hater , til he even said he won't mind having a daughter like her cos she really touched him
Oh it's a whole miracle coming from him, he never liked kids & never knew how to interact with them
But he was snapping away at us

We are still not thinking of kids yet

Alrite! So there was also a lion dance performance arranged for the ChaoYAng kids.
N I was amazed at how graciously these kids gave cheers to the performers
Each time the lions struck a pose

They gave spontaneous loud cheers
N they, in a charmingly uncomplex way, were no afraid to express happiness, fear, curiosity n amazement

oh and of course there was the reunion dinner with Dan's family .. It's my 3rd year joining them, no surprises in a nice way

Except that I think my dad-in-law is absolutely cool
If I haven't told you, he is one of the most rational persons I've met, n he has been practically the only elder who doesn't subscribe to template expectations of married couples having to immediately think of having kids next
We know he silently desires but he believes he shd leave the decision to us

So this year, this dinner, Dan's sweet grandma invited the church's pastor to join us for dinner.
N the pastor made a mistake of trying to put words in grandma's mouth, when she gave out angpows; she went "ur grandma wants to say next year bring one more! "
But even when I was only midway rolling my here-we-go-again eyes at Dan, his dad jumped to our defense n questioned her "did my mum say that?"
N he did it in a way we could laugh it off. Trust that he could pull off anything having dealt with idiots from italy to indonesia.

Dont get me wrong, I don't think that pastor has ill intentions n I see her good points. But I see pastors as humans who make mistakes too n she has made one together with plenty of kaypoh aunties in my department. N recently I have taken to telling them off straight in the face for bugging me about my private life. Seriously, do u NEED me to tell u that whether I m pregnant yet or if I want kids is none of ur business?

N I'm thankful that dad-in-law got me out of a spot cos I know I shd never tell a dinner- guest Pastor off

This morning I had to patiently counsel bratty new officers. FYI I give n take a lot as a sup cos perhaps I was once as immature n inconsiderate

In my signature procastinating fashion, i did up this recap of year 2010.
it was an amazing and eye-opening year, full of emotions and miracles
so i thought, if i ever look back on my life, which i hope can be eternalised on the www
and since I have been away from this blog for ages
i would want to recap this year
in a hopefully short, concise, but not understating manner

2010 started off with us starting to live in our very own Jelebu Homie
we bought this resale design-&-build flat, which has a very contemporary layout that we both liked and converted into a minimalist-look apartment post- a-very-painful- renovation
Full-length windows, which to a nostalgic nut like me who like to look out and sink into deep thought, was v much important

a small kitchen we foresee very little use of
and planning to reno it again this year

3 big bedrooms, one converted into an entertainment room

and a Master room big enough to have my very own walk-in wardrobe

And despite what people may say, i love it
& I realise that there is no place i'd really rather be, when i can settle here with my loved ones
and have frens over to chill till as late as we want

And this year, i got hitched

yes, it wasnt easy with all the stress and the expectations and the disappointments.
but remembering that the point of it all
is being together with someone very much worth everything for
and the true friends who will selflessly see through the thankless tasks and your bridezilla-temper
thanks to all in the following pic (blabber: except for the 2nd one on the left who did nothing for me and later stabbed me in the back real hard by sending poisonous letters of me to our management, no thanks so good thing she shut her eyes for this picture cos her grotesque character cannot make her look good in anyway)
Now everyone is looking at the Poison rite?! haha

it was also easy, because Dan and I look back and we really thought we had a nice wedding. cos to us, our solemnisation was way in 09
and that was all we wanted, a sweet simple and beautiful ceremony

The good thing about planning a wedding
and taking anything negative
is that you get to go on your honeymoon afterwards
and I got to soak and slack in my dream destinations...

Paris !

besides being the ultimate bimbo dream vacation
and visiting and buying from Louis Vuitton Flagship store
I really love Paris' architecture
kudos to their city planning and managing to retain the best of ancient european architecture

oh and one of our shoot shot there by Eng Hong made it into StyleWeddings magazine as 39East's advert!

& we went to London too, but did so much World cup watching with the English Fans!

This year, we welcomed our 2nd dog, Emi

ok i will readily admit she is around because we love Chiyo too much to bear the thought of her being alone at home while we work
and at evil times, especially when Emi behaves really terribly (such as not being toilet-trained after 6 long months), i call her Chiyo's $1100 expensive toy
... terrible owner
but she melts my heart at other times, and is slowly... very slowly learning

I cut my goondoo fringe in 2010 too

So in 2010, i found true friends, lost friends, and the loves of my life

Well, its not true that we should never look back.
because memories are there, for a reason

I walked past the shop in far east today n saw the coral version. Which is so nice! I was too paiseh to buy it cos I was wearing it, but I'm going back I swear!

Anyway I surprised the birthday boy with an iPad, it's keyboard dock, n an all-expenses paid accesories shopping trip!

Dan is of cos, very happy

He got an Ed hardy case, n this ribcage case he'd always wanted..

It brings a smile to my face, when someone I love is happy

Well hello~
Look what appeared behind the dresser "throne" (yep thats not a dresser chair, we bargained for this chanel like cushioned one like hell, so a throne it is)

Ok story is, most of you know Dan has one of these glass cabinets for so long. It was his dream since the days he browsed a certain handphone shop (and later, became good frens with the boss and get all sorts of crazy discounts on phones)
So i looked on in envy as he showcases his gadgets

And to stop me from trying to girly-up his manly gadget cabinet, he got me...

my own!

hee.
so far only the top 2 levels are done

Level one was for my very modest, display-able, pretty accessories
which means to say precious stones and elements or pass-down-generation jewellery, nah, not here
and of course, Louis Vuitton "Icons" book Dan got from Japan.

You can see I have very little accessories!
This I am proud of. I spring clean regularly plus i dont accesorise too much
i dont think anyone will wear any 5 year old earrings rite?

Level 2, im hoping will become the start of a perfume minature display

aha.. still thinking of the rest.. taking my time.

Im luving my home more n more!

Here it comes, and here it is!

Poor me tolerated an ntuc plastic shoe rack for a year since moving into our Jelebu Homie. So for my 17-again birthday (extended version), Dan got me this and it arrived today!

We got this simple shelving unit from Ikea, so that I can get a little of the country look by adding white wicker baskets n cut-out rice paper lined. Its pretty budget too, the whole ensemble, excluding delivery n installation of course, was only about $170? (sorry we both cant remember cos there were other things)

I like it! its not too fancy, but has room for a little indulgence. And, it doesnt irk me cos of my "thing" about airing my shoes. I cannot stand to wear shoes dug out from dark places.. ergh!

Ok one without the lomo..

Oh and while we are on this, here are the sweet heels i got from a JB shopping trip with Bunny
love the blue! even bought a bf blazer just to match this with any black or white dress I have
And its cheap! Who says u cant get nice stuff cheap?

Ok off to deco my own glass cabinet. The story up next!

Funny, this is my second 2nd day of mc in a week. remember last week?
turns out some virus brought me down again after New Year Midnight and made me feverish for 3 whole days.
Slept and slept but the fever just wont go away
until I went to the super popular doctor at Toh Yi Drive and had to wait for more than 1 hour
thats when the fever said "whoa.. ok" and backed off only after i was given a million pills and another 2 days of mc

Didnt intend to take mc today too but i was supposed to be on pm leave anyway
waiting for the furniture to arrive and perhaps bringing the gals for grooming
and if i had went, all i would be wasting time on is sitting in a meeting coughing and waiting to update some items
no thanks

Gonna clear up some space for my display cabinet, thats where all my accessories will go
later. wee...

Nothing stops a determined shopaholic
Not even gastric flu
or questionable financial status

I shopped, with clicks of mouse, and my DBS ibanking device

I bought, in the span of a few hours
- a satin pink flora dress for CNY, it was on sale, gorgeous at $15
- A sweet top, as I dont have enough to wear with my skirts
- a petticoat, well since i was ordering something
- a navy blue blazer, so I can wear my electric blue gorgeous heels with any skirt i pair it with!

(not too sure if i can copy those pics from the blogshops so i shant, til i get my hands on the items and wear them)

I have a reason for everything! its a sickness, really

On another bright note, the shoe cabinet we ordered is coming on tuesday. Its not exactly a shoe cabinet cos Im planning to improvise it, its an open shelving unit and i bought like 8 white wicker baskets so I can line them with flora paper and put my shoes in them
And Dan got me my own glass display case for my accessories
He says its my extended bday present. lol. so tuesday! I will decorate them !

happy. but really gotta stop shopping. I promise. Im broke anyway... tell u why later!

The one with SK II cellumiessence

Now that my skin is not oily, i finally tried my newly purchased SK II cellumiessence

I bought this together with Pigu's birthday present, being a sucker for SKII membership
The non-taitai that I am.. Suckaaa!

Not bad. It applies on easily with a sponge. I wore it out for only 2 hours n it made my skin look radiant. The better part is, after removing it, skin looks more alive n radiant too

So far so good. I will update in the event of any outbreak.. Crosses fingers.
Only downside is the price. Cost me $130 for this. Refil costs $98.

Sweetest Dan dated me for a belated birthday dinner, since we had to stay home on Xmas eve to take care of Chiyo

Rochester Park is really nice n quiet on a weekday. I like :)

No we didn't go to OneRochester. Cos we've been to oneTwentySix. No biggie deal

Am back!
What we did over Xmas:

Hosted a little Christmas party with Bunny, RR , doUdou n toffee. With Dan n his SF buddies
Basically we could not get a turkey so we went for the next best thing: roasts from Cold Storage.
Aha ok maybe not the next best thing

Packed in paper but smells good

We cooked for the dogs. Except my poor angel Chiyo who whined away
A nice first:)

The dogs took some great pics with their christmas accessories, shall upload them later, they are in my lumix

Then we tried to be funny, which meant we tried to be ATAS.

Wine n cheese. Simi gwee lor. I'm the last person u shd ask about wine. Seriously. I will say everything is good. That's cos I'm polite n sweet by nature.

Anyway boxing day came n went n we actually made it to church when we slept past 3. Mum-in-law was impressed. N we spent the day at Dan's parents, then mine.
Yeah if u asked me this is one of the more significant differences come marriage or getting your own place. We really need to set aside time for the folks, or u can feel the distance.
I love seeing my dad's smile each time we travel back for his famous cuisine, n Dan telling him from the bottom of his heart n stomach that he had set the standard for best tasting ever.
I guess marriage makes us better children.

Was on half day work on Monday . Still for the little angel who, great news n thank God, was recovering.
Met up with Bunny n RR in the evening for what else but more shopping at vivo!
Feels wonderful to head home, hug my angelic gals, shower n freshen up for an outing
I wore my single-wing top.

Got it from JB city square n I love the material
Once I wore it to work n someone asked me if Chiyo bit off a sleeve

Got myself clinique cleanser, one sleepwear, that's it. Am in control.
My ass.
Waiting for my 2 dresses to arrive!

It's getting amazing how time flies. How I was 17 not long ago and turned 27 yesterday

The day started amazing because my sweet husband n frens barged in during midnight n surprised me with an array of food n a self designed cake

They wanted for Dan to bring me out, deco my place n yell surprise . But we had to be home for Chiyo but this is no less sweet n heartwarming
Having such wonderful frens n loved ones makes life so worth living

The one with Chiyo's treatment

Brought my little princess to the vet two days ago, after her massive vomitting. Thank God that my brother was around Yo report to me in time.
Vomiting persisted so brought her to the animal hospital today. Did tests n X-ray ..
Thank goodness it wasn't a case of item lodged in her body. Doc diagnosed as some inflammation between her stomach n intestines.
Had a 3rd jab, on liquid diet fir 5 days, a $500 bill..
Doc and staff at ARVC were great. Did a very thorough exam n explained the results to us clearly..

I realized how much I cannot stand the thought of losing her. How I can't ask for any dog better

A simple birthday wish: that my darling Chiyo, hubby, family n frens stay healthy n safe
